What does this countdown use as its reference?
Not your device clock. It reads the time from an NTP-synced server and counts down in UTC, so the remaining time stays correct even if your own clock is off by seconds.
Can I share a countdown with other people?
Press 'Copy countdown link' and you get a URL containing the target moment and label. The moment is stored in UTC, so anyone opening the link sees the same countdown no matter where they are.
Can I enter the target in my own time zone?
Tick 'My local time' and the date and time fields are read in your zone instead of UTC. The shared link is still written in UTC so it stays unambiguous.
How do I turn on the final ten-second ticks?
Leave the option ticked and press Start. A short tone plays every second from ten seconds out, rising in pitch for the last three. Browsers only allow audio to start from a user action, which is what pressing Start provides.
The sound is too quiet.
Use the volume slider and press Test to check the level. It defaults to 80% and the setting is saved in your browser for next time.
What happens after the target passes?
A plus sign appears and the timer keeps counting the elapsed time. If the end tone is enabled it plays at the moment the target is reached.
Does it drift if I switch to another tab?
Browsers throttle background tabs, but the page re-syncs with the server automatically as soon as you come back to it.
