FAQ
How are tiles calculated?
Area ÷ effective tile area (including grout gap), plus waste (usually 10%). For 10 m² with 300×300 tiles and 3mm grout, that's about 105 tiles plus waste.
Why add the grout gap?
Each tile occupies its size plus the grout joint, so a 300mm tile is calculated as 303mm with a 3mm gap for accuracy.
What waste margin?
Usually 10% for cutting and breakage; 15-20% for diagonal, herringbone, or patterned layouts.
How are boxes calculated?
Needed tiles ÷ tiles per box, rounded up. Tiles per box varies, so check the product.
Wall tiles too?
Yes, floor and wall are calculated the same by area. For walls, use length × height.
